Day 15 / Dec 13
Another day, much like the last. Skipped breakfast. Actually had some work to do today. Me and my other ADVON personnel went and assigned CHUs according to how the 1SG and Commander sent the list. So, at least that�s done.
The day was cloudy all day. I know that the rainy season is coming soon and just hope it holds off long enough for us to get our equipment here and in place. We learned today that the company will be delayed for a period of time, so we�re not expecting them when we thought we would and that�s going to delay getting the system into place as soon as it could have been. The BN is working to get at least our stuff moved up here, but so far we�re not having any luck with that.
The air here always smells like something has been burned or fired recently, a little bit like firecrackers or gunpowder, but its all the time and it burns the lungs just a bit. Nothing you don�t get used to, but it is something you notice from time to time.
The other day I mentioned mortars going off in the vicinity of the city, but after talking to an MP who does daily patrols, I learned that its not incoming mortar fire, but outgoing artillery fire from the Paladins that are somewhere around here. I don�t really know that they are shooting at anything in particular, but just kind of a show of force to let the bad guys know that we are still here, and can still bring steel rain and fire from the sky whenever we feel like it.
What else is there to say? We don�t do a whole lot at any given time here and there isn�t much to do for entertainment. We shop the Haji-shops, which did have a new movie in today, �Aeon Flux.� I saw how they bring the DVDs in. They are in stacks of about 100 or more and the Haji�s here package them in the plastic wrappers and DVD covers. I�m waiting until some of the other new movies come out, like �King Kong,� and whatever else comes out new that looks good.
